RAM History

Before it became its own entity to focus purely on trucks, RAM was apart of the Dodge brand. In about 1914 the first signature trucks went into production and Dodge's work truck segment began to rise in popularity. "RAM" was originally the name of one of Dodge's light-duty pickup trucks. In comparison to other major auto manufacturing brands, Ram is relatively new but has continued to rise, becoming popular worldwide. Some highlights throughout RAM's history include:

  • Chrysler bought Dodge in 1981
  • From 1981 to 2009, their pickup trucks were called "Dodge RAM"
  • In 1989, the Ram truck released the 5.9 L V8 engine
